Hillyard Farms is a small family run Icelandic sheep farm located in the piedmont of North Carolina. Icelandic sheep are one the world’s oldest and purest breed of sheep. They are cold hardy, disease resistant sheep and are highly efficient triple purpose animals. Icelandics are genetically predisposed to multiple births which may result in triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets or sextuplets. They are sheared twice a year and fall 2009 shearing is scheduled for October.
