Beechfork Ranch is a small, family owned cattle and horse operation. The ranch is located deep in the Ozark Mountains, between Greers Ferry Lake and the Little Red River. Established in 2005, the ranch has grown to house over 300 brood cows, including registered Angus stock, Horned Herefords from the Wood Ranch and WT Waggoner Estate, and black baldies out of original ranch stock and top Angus bulls. Commercial stock is bred to Angus, Star-5, and Ultrablack bulls.... (read more) We have found that this adds a hybrid vigor in the calves that allows them to gain weight quickly and efficiently. The ranch strives to raise Angus bulls for commercial and show purposes. Replacement heifers, young stock, and Angus bulls are available for private sale on the ranch at all times. All of the cattle on the ranch are worked constantly off of the foundation bred Quarter Horses that are raised there. Once a horse reaches its third year, it has been exposed to arena work, branding cattle, working horses, etc. All of the foals are born out at pasture, and once weaned, they are brought to the barn. There, the foals are bathed, shaved, trailered, and halter broken. At two years old, the horses are caught up, and broken in the indoor arena. They are ridden on the ranch consistently from two-years-old year until they are sold. Some of the prospects go on to cutting, reining, and reined cowhorse training. Horses owned by Beechfork Ranch have been successful at shows like the NCHA Open Futurity, NCHA Open Super Stakes, and other major events.
Our main goal with the horses is to raise superb ranch geldings and mares. We believe that a horse should be able to go to a show one day, and go trail riding the next. The program that we put our horses through allows them to become the best that they can be, and gives them a great foundation that will last for the rest of their lives. We have found that the horses that we raise on the ranch are dependable, athletic, and willing to do any job that is needed of them.
The ranch owns approximately twenty outstanding Quarter Horse broodmares, descending from the finest ranch and performance stallions in the industry. All of the mares on the ranch are bred to our outstanding stallions, Missies Little Star, Paddys Irish Whiskey, and Lena Peptolena. Missies Little Star is a 2001 sorrel stallion, sired by the late Grays Starlight. He won over 59,000 dollars in NCHA competition, and was the Limited Open Reserve Champion at the 2004 NCHA Futurity. His oldest select foal crop was born in 2008, and the foals doing incredibly well in cutting training. Lena Peptolena is a 2006 bay stallion by the famous sire, Peptoboonsmal. His dam, Lenas Lucinda, ranks number 19 on the list of all time leading NCHA dams. He was a semi-finalist in the 2009 NCHA Open Futurity, as well as the 2010 Open Super Stakes, and is still showing. We feel by crossing top cutting bloodlines to our ranch mares, cowsense and athleticism will be added to the foal. Horses owned by Beechfork Ranch have earned money in the NCHA, NRHA, AQHA, and others are AQHA point earners. Young colts, geldings, and fillies are available on the ranch at all times, along with finished ranch geldings and show horses.
