I am pleased to be opening host registration for my trailer loading/training demo series. I currently have 5 host openings available in October. Hosts should be horse owners whose horses are difficult to load, will not load at all, or have never been loaded.
Being a host entails allowing auditors and fellow hosts to observe the work being done with the your horse at your farm. Everyone brings their lawn chair and breaks out the popcorn to watch and discuss the process!... (read more)
We will talk about the ethology of why the horse may not load, what techniques to use in each situation, and how to help the horse be confident loading and hauling. I teach using the lowest stress, least adverse training methods. No drama or theatrics, but lots of patience, reassurance, treats, and understanding.
Each demo will cover the first session of trailer training. Part of the discussion will be knowing when we've accomplished all that we can in one session. If an owner wishes to host a second session during the series I would be delighted to circle back for a sessions two demo with their horse.
At the conclusion of the demo series I will hold a traditional 2-3 day haul in clinic. This will be open to all horse owners with pre registration available to demo hosts and auditors to bring their horses to continue the work done during the series.
I believe that trailering is an essential life skill for all horses. There is nothing worse than being unable to take a sick or injured horse to the vet, or being unable to load them to evacuate in an emergency.
I want all horse owners to be able to load their horse, in any trailer, by themselves. Without an assistant, extra ropes, whips, straps, flags, gates, pannels, etc. I also want the horses to be happy and confident loading and riding in the trailer.
If you are interested in hosting, auditing, attending the clinic, or private training sessions please pm me.
