This is a special one! We have had “Mario” for over a year, and he has been nothing short of amazing.... (read more) As true of an all-around horse one can find wrapped in a vibrant bay color at 15.1 hh. “Mario” has been our go-to guy for EVERYthing!!
Mario’s personality is absolutely second to none. He is an absolute sweetheart that thrives on attention. Mario is not shy whatsoever and will walk right up to you to get some love. He loves scratches so much that he will back his butt up to you in his stall to get more and more. This guy is just so incredibly gentle to be around. Our little nieces have free rein with him to get him out, pick his feet, brush, saddle, etc. We never have to worry with him!
His kind demeanor definitely transfers over into the saddle. This is the horse that we let our eight-year-old, fifty-pound niece hop on fresh out of a stall to go do whatever she wants on. She will take him on a long trail ride where he takes the best care of her. Then she will get to the arena and make him do some turnin and burning around the barrels or put cattle away for the team ropers. Mario is one that we truly consider to be a kids horse!! Little miss Blaire has even been sticking her toes into the English side of things and of course the go-to horse is sweet Mario. Man, does he look good in that English tack too!
We often get the question: “What can this one do?” Well, when it comes to Mario, the better question is- what can’t he do? Mario is the most versatile horse we have had. We actually got Mario from a much older gentleman that did the cutting and cowhorse events with him. Mario can REALLY watch a cow. He gets gritty and genuinely wants to eat em up. This guy is an absolute athlete!
From the cutting and cowhorse to the ranch riding he will be your pick. Mario has a beautiful trot to him. Both extended trot and slow he FLOATS with his head low and in the bridle. Mario will change leads and walk over logs. This guy will side-pass both ways and up to any obstacle. He is no stranger to pulling cattle around, therefore if one has to pull a log in the pen it is no problem. Mario has a great lope and rides on a loose rein. He will spin slow or fast and really plants his hind foot.
Cutting- check. Cowhorse-check. Ranch riding-check. There’s more! Next up we have team roping and of course not just one, but both sides. Mario is a knock-out in the heading and heeling. He has a lot of run to him to catch those faster ones. He has just as much breaks to him as run though, making him the perfect cross on both sides. He will wait calm, cool, and collected in the box and fire when you give him the go ahead. Mario has a snappy face on the head side and great style across the pen. He will absolutely drag his behind on the heel side and sit back on that rope.
We are sure Mario will fit into any one’s program. He is as user friendly as they get and SAFE. Mario would love to do the 4-H events with the little ones or be your main trail mount on the weekends. We are beyond proud to offer this kind gentleman. Mario sells 100% sound with a pre-purchase exam. One is not only getting a new horse when they work with us, but a partnership. We will absolutely help you out in any way we can even after you take Mario home. He will require a home where he gets carrots and kisses of course!
