Apollo is a 13 year old grade QH gelding who we purchased 3 years ago for my husband, who was a complete beginner at that time. Apollo did some rodeo (I don't know what exactly) and trail riding with previous owner and we originally bought him only as a safe trail horse for my husband. Since then my husband has dabbled in intro dressage and some jumping of cross rails which Apollo really seems to enjoy. My husband has since gotten into fox hunting, which Apollo is NOT for as he gets WAY to amped around the 20-40 other horses + hounds at the hunt.... (read more)
Apollo does have way more go than woah which my beginner husband did find difficult at times as he was trying to learn his seat and aids, so I would say Apollo is NOT suitable for a complete beginner at this time, but definitely an advanced beginner. With that being said however, Apollo has never bucked/reared/bolted/kicked since we've gotten him. He was even hit by a deer on a trail and only took a step sideways, but no real spook (even though I fell off my spooked horse who then took off).
Apollo is UTD on vaccines, teeth, farrier, coggins and stands well for vet, farrier, clipping, etc. He also trailers well. He has no maintance other than MSM as a joint health preventative. He is barefoot and has amazing feet.
He is currently turned out with 2 other geldings (has been out with mares as well), but Apollo is 100% the dominant horse in a herd so he does better with horses who are submissive to that or turned out alone. Apollo is an absolute puppy dog with people though.
