For Sale: Quigley – 15.1hh, 6-Year-Old Trail Mule

Quigley is a seasoned, confident trail mule with miles of experience in rough terrain. I’ve had him since he was two, and he’s been my go-to mount for years. He’s tackled everything from steep inclines to technical trails without hesitation and has been ridden extensively through Shawnee National Forest, Eminence, Lesterville, Tennessee, and more. He’s always been surefooted, reliable, and brave on the trail, and he thrives in an environment where he’s consistently working. However, he’s not a fan of road riding or flat trails—he gets bored and starts looking for things to spook at. When kept in regular work, he’s an incredible partner, but he needs a job and consistent riding.

Pros:

✅ Experienced trail mule – excels in rough terrain
✅ Confident and surefooted in steep, technical areas
✅ Great stamina – has handled over 100 miles a week in the past
✅ Never worn shoes, only needs trimming once or twice a year
✅ Has ponied horses and worked cattle

Cons:

❌ Can be aggressive toward new horses, especially in a herd with mares
❌ Hates being dewormed and vet visits – requires firm handling
❌ Can spook and take off if startled but does best with a confident rider

Quigley has been a sentimental part of my life, but as my focus shifts toward therapeutic horsemanship and kids’ lessons, I don’t have the time to keep him in the consistent work he needs. He would thrive with someone who regularly takes him into the mountains and keeps him busy.
