“Love Index”, aka Hershey, is a coming 5 year old pony mare that is registered ACPS Halfbred (American Connemara Pony Society Halfbred). Her sire is Duet Farms One Love (ACPS No. S 1999 LV) and her dam, Terrific Chex (APHA). She last measured 14 ½ hands and is the sweetest pony. Hershey was lightly shown and started over cross rails in the first half of her 4 year old year. She was well behaved at all events despite her young age.... (read more) In the past 6 months, her training has been focused on improving her flat work and allowing her joints to further develop. She can W/T/C on the bit, can shorten and lengthen her stride, and can leg yield in both directions. She is a beautiful mover with an excellent hind leg. While we have focused on a working frame, we have seen some beautiful collected work that comes easy for her. She does have auto changes (although not always perfect). Recently, we have allowed her to jump larger to better assess her potential and better gauge what she likes to do. It turns out that she loves to jump. She sails well over 2’3” — we haven’t pushed her to her limit but feel confident she will easily go above 3’. She jumps clean and is careful not to hit her toes. Even if your striding isn’t accurate, she is still going to jump — this has an advantage for a beginner but know that if you aren’t balanced, she is likely going to go if you have pointed her at a jump. Although we would not consider Hershey a beginner lesson pony as she is a bit more go than whoa, she has done amazing with less experienced riders and has been very tolerant of mistakes. She easily loads on a trailer, stands for a farrier and cross-ties, is barefoot, will come in the field and has started ground tying. She is currently turned out with 2 other mares — and is content with being at the bottom of the pecking order. We have found that when faced with new obstacles or scary things, she quickly overcomes them. Hershey will excel in any direction that you want to go: Hunter/Jumper, Eventing or Dressage. She recently had her Coggins performed as well as spring vaccines and is located in Paducah, KY (Western KY).
