If you are looking for a young horse that sure enough broke and gentle, one that won’t get you hurt, then take a look at Pumpkin. She is by far one of the best minded young horses we’ve ever had. Pumpkin came right from the man who bred, raised and trained her, and he took excellent care of her. She is one of the sweetest, kindest and gentlest little mares ever, and she loves attention. She grew up on a ranch in New Mexico, and has been ridden lots of easy miles out in the pasture.... (read more) Pumpkin has never once offered to buck, rear, bite, kick, or take off, and is gentle enough that even an experienced youth could have fun on her. She is very willing to please and learns quickly. Pumpkin is currently being ridden by a 75 year old man, and even in the cold weather you don’t need to warm her up before you get on. She is 3 years old and 14hh, and she should grow a bit more and fill out as well. Pumpkin has been used on the ranch to check fences, push cattle, and has been on many trail rides as well. She rides quietly on a loose rein, has a very good handle, an excellent stop, and will work a gate. Although not a big horse, she is smooth and comfortable to ride. Pumpkin will cross water with no problem, and is very sure footed. She will go up, over or through anything you point her at, and is good in the mountains as well. She is not mare-ish at all, and can be turned out with both mares and geldings without any issues. Pumpkin is good for the shoer, loads and hauls well, and stands quietly tied. She will ride out alone as well as with a group, will happily lead or follow and has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it.
