Max is a beautiful coming 6 year old Andalusian gelding. He is an absolute sight to behold. Standing nearly 17hh and a big sturdy boy, this guy has all the bone you could ask for. (read more) Being a young horse of his size he is still working on filling out his muscle but has already made great improvements in the short time he has been with me.
Max is a very unique horse. As big and thick as he is he still has the lovely sensitivity of an Andalusian that we all love. While he is sensitive to his handler’s aids he is not a reactive horse to external things. He isn’t spooky or bolty, but keeps his feet on the ground when he is nervous. At this point I would say with some more confidence building he could become a bombproof type.
Max is very friendly and easy to catch. He loves to be near people and has that puppy dog personality that will follow you around all day. He is good to lead and will stand tied. He may paw a bit from time to time when he is getting impatient however he doesn’t pull back. He is easy to groom, picks up all 4 feet and is good for the farrier (currently barefoot, no need for shoes with his fantastic feet). He loads well into a trailer and has been off property to an indoor arena. He lunges well both directions and does well off of voice commands.
Max is green broke under saddle at this time. He will stand to mount. He has a nice soft mouth and knows the basic aids. He is going WT under saddle and will start canter work once he is showing ample balance. He has been for some hikes out on the trail and did well. He prefers the company of other horses and will go alone but is more nervous when by himself.
At this point Max is a diamond in the rough. He has a good starter kit and is a high quality horse. He simply needs some consistent work, guidance and a person that can help build his confidence and encourage him grow into the incredible horse that he can be!
