Dually (AQHA registered name "Cameos Commander") is an eye-catcher wherever you take him. Standing a stout 15.3hh and weighing about 1250 lbs, he's built really well with his breeding going back to Hollywood Dun It. He's got a bright golden coat in the summer, and in the winter he's got beautiful dapples that come out. He is a gentleman to be around on the ground, loves attention and comes to meet you at the gate. He has great ground manners and stands to be tied, bathed, stands great for the farrier, and leads and loads well.... (read more) He gets along well with other horses.
Dually only had one owner before I got him, and he owned him since he was a weanling. He himself isn't a very experienced rider and so he sent Dually off to be started under saddle as a three year old. He has had a little over a year of professional training put on him sporadically, with him being at a trainer's for 6 months when he was a 3 year old, and then another few months as a 4 year old, a few months as a 5 year old, and the last time being with a roping trainer to be tuned up for three months in the spring of 2024.
I got him in the summer of 2024 and have done a lot of different things with him. I have trail ridden him extensively in all kinds of different terrain, I've spent days helping gather and push cows on him, and worked on getting a nicer handle on him in the arena. He is very sure-footed and will go anywhere you point him. He will cross water, go over bridges, handles rough country effortlessly, and has the motor to go ranching all day long. I've also ponied other horses off of him and he does well with that. In the arena, Dually can be a little bit of a powerhouse in the sense that he can have more go than whoa once you ask him to speed him up; the trainer who rode him previously used to lope him around with contact on his mouth constantly. However, I've been working with him on setting a pace and then releasing the reins back to him and having him maintain that speed, which he's getting better at with every ride and learning to lope and maintain relaxation. He's learning to carry himself nicely and has a nice walk, super comfortable trot, and a nice, strong lope. He picks up both leads, softens to the bridle, and will ride around in anything from a snaffle to a bridle and neck reins well. He'll sidepass, back up, has started to turn around, and is very eager to learn. He rides out great by himself and with other horses; he's not barn or buddy sour and will maintain the same speed regardless if you're facing the barn or leaving it.
Dually would be a nice all-around horse for an intermediate and up rider, who's looking to finish him out in a particular discipline, or be a great all-around family horse to trail ride, work cows on, and go have fun on a stunning horse with. He is not very spooky or reactive; however, he can get a little insecure sometimes if he sees something new or isn't sure of something (which doesn't happen too often), and if that happens, may need a few seconds to see that everything's okay, and then he'll settle right back down. However, because of that, he does best with a confident rider who is able to recognize when he's feeling a little insecure so they can let him know he's okay, and he'll only get more confident in himself as time goes.
Dually is currently barefoot and 100% sound, and recently been trimmed. He has very minor maintenance (a singular injection as needed, max once a year) for which I have x-rays I'm happy to share along with everything the vet said. Please feel free to email, text/call me for more information, pictures or videos of Dually!
