2009 ottb. I love him dearly but I just haven't had the time to work with him like he needs and deserves
He is very sweet, friendly with other horses, people, dogs, and loves head scratches. The most reaction he gave when we introduced him to the first of our herd was a squeal, but no crazy running around or anything. He doesn't spook at many things like bags, corn stalks, or tarps, just birds flying out of tall grass or rabbits scurrying away, he hesitates to walk over them; but will do it with encouragement.... He is high energy, and still has that speed loving spirit from his racing days despite getting up there in age, so it's go go go when under saddle. He was doing incredibly well this past summer when I was able to ride him regularly, but since then my life went a little upsides down. I had him listed then, but chickened out because I thought if I let the dust settle i could get back into things, but as things have progressed I've realized that he deserves someone who can reliably give him the exercise and mental stimulation he needs
He has a very fancy looking stride at the trot and canter, and will do flying lead changes all on his own when you change direction, he just needs to be taught to do it on cue.
He has potential in jumping, maybe dressage if you can get his brain going. I haven't had him for long enough to work with him on much for either of these things, but his owner before me did do some small jumps with him for fun, he'd just need his confidence back.
An SI injury ended his career after 7 races, but it was healed and rehabbed long before I bought him, the only problem it's ever caused are hip adjustments that can be mitigated with proper cool downs and stretching, and occasionally icing his hips after a hard ride.
Will come with 2 blankets(200weight outdoor + 200meight stable blanket i only use under the other when it's extremely cold) and a bridle, as well as the bridle and I have saddles that fit him if a 16.5, or 17im seat is what you need. what ever leftover feed I have and his supplements will go with him as well. he wasn't moved around much so he has some trailer anxiety, but with enough coaxing and patience he will load.
Coggins and yearly vaccines will be gotten before he's taken home as well, but he's spent all his time with me around the same 3 horses with very little travel so any sickness is unlikely.
