2009 ottb. He had a SI injury that ended his career after 7 races, but it healed long before I bought him, the largest problem it's created is a couple hip adjustments that can be mitigated with proper cool downs and stretching.
He is very sweet, , friendly, and loves head scratched but can be very opinionated when it comes to saddling and wiggles a little. he used to nip as well but I've broken that habit pretty well, so now he just pins his ears.... (read more) (I don't think this is because of pain, but I'm not a vet so I could be wrong.)
He is very high energy, and love going fast, so he needs to be ridden at least 5 days a week, with a good warm up and cool down, such as hills or poles for his Si injury. (I love him dearly but I just haven't had the time to work with him like he needs)
He was doing incredibly well this past summer when I was able to ride him regularly. I had been working with him on leg pressure because to him any leg pressure still means go. He'll rear a little with he gets super frustrated, but taking it slowly usually prevents that, and it's easy to sit undersaddle.
He has a very fancy looking stride at the trot and canter(when he's worked regularly), and will do flying lead changes all on his own, he just needs to be taught to do it on cue.
He's a lot to handle undersaddle, so do not consider him if you are a beginner. An intermediate rider with regular lessons or an experienced one looking foe a little bit of a project would be best for him.
He doesn't spook at many things like bags or tarps, he hesitates to walk over them; but will do it with encouragement.
His best potential is jumping, maybe dressage is you can woej through his frustration and get his brain working.
Will come with 2 blankets(200weight outdoor + 200meight stable blanket i only use under the other when it's extremely cold) and a bridle, as well as the bridle and saddles I have that fit him if a 16.5, or 17im seat is what you need.
He's had a bit of mudrot on his backlegs that I haven't been able to throughly treat due to the cold, but hopefully it will be taken care of before he's sold. Coggins and yearly vaccines will be gotten before he's taken home aswell, but he's spent all his time with me around the same 3 horses with very little travel so any sickness is unlikely.
