Here’s a fancy and functional guy, Originally from a working ranch in South Dakota..
He was just diagnosed by my vet as having an old “pulled hamstring” on his right hind. It was an old injury that went undiagnosed and untreated by a prior owner because she just wanted him off her feed bill once she noticed he got hurt.... (read more) It is healed now, but the muscle has healed tighter than on the other side, so he has a shortened stride on that right hind leg. The vet said it is NOT PAINFUL and is just mechanical. That leg just doesn’t stretch as far as it used to, but with some extra attention- there is good prognosis it can return back to normal. Stretching, strengthening, massage, linament, magnawave and shockwave would all be beneficial to help break up that scar tissue and help return him to regular range of motion. He trots sound, it is most noticeable at the walk. He otherwise flexes fine on all his joints. The only limitations the vet recommended were to not do sliding stops or roping.. He has a good prognosis to be a ranch show horse, and definitely a pleasure/ trail horse.
He is good broke, great manners, and currently Barefoot. “Cool” has been a working ranch horse, and trail rides great too. He is easy to get along with, but has been sitting around most of this winter. The video is of him fresh off a 4 hour trailer ride and in a brand new place he’s never been to. This is a really Nice gelding that wants to please! Great work ethic. Not a kick along plug, but not a hot mess either. Best suited for someone who knows how to ride a little and is not timid. He is responsive to cues. No vices, lives in mixed herd. Trailers, ties, stands for grooming & mounting. Excellent for the Vet. Friendly. A really nice built horse with that Ranchy look everyone wants. He’s a sweet horse that deserves to have a person who wants to give him the home he deserves. He came to me on consignment and I’d love to find this guy his perfect person. Endless possibilities for this versatile guy. Foundation bred Driftwood lines.
