Meet tall, dark, and handsome - a.k.a. Sharpie! Sharpie is a smooth mover oozing with presence and ready to ride. Sharpie would be appropriate for a trail or arena horse for a rider that has some background and feel to the aids. He has been DNA'ed and the results came back as Quarter Horse with Mangalara Marchador, which may be best associated with something like an Andalusian. He is kind minded and mature, but when he gets frisky can feel like he wants to passage.... (read more)
Currently, Sharpie is working in a program, getting legged up for his new home. He is working on strength building over his back and connecting into the hand. He is working in the arena, through obstacles, and out on the trail. He is a very smooth mover with three excellent gaits. He has energy and feels grounded at the same time, with a great work ethic. He loves to please.
Sharpie was picked up a year ago by a rider in a hunter jumper barn. Upon purchase he has predominately been used as a trail horse and was brought into training for ring work. When he was purchased by his current owner, he was shown doing lots of work on trail and working through sensory obstacles. His kind disposition allowed the teen girls to ride him around bareback and his owner to do some low level lessons over fences. He's lived in barn life with an indoor ring, cross ties, and commotion without issue. He did come up sore with jumping work and was determined not to be of ideal body type to continue jumping work and hence, is moving on to a home with no jumping.
Sharpie has had exquisite care with his current owner and has all the records, including original PPE, x-rays, breed DNA test, and more. He does have some allergies and does best on a teff or meadow grass diet. He gets a fly sheet and booties when the flies come out. He did have some summer sores when his owner picked him up, which were treated and resolved. Sharpie has an old scar on his right front, likely from a pasture accident in his past. He is currently wearing shoes on his front feet, but does seem to have good hard feet.
If you are looking for a gorgeous gelding with lots of schooling under his belt and vet records attached, at an affordable price tag, you might look into this kind soul to bring home. He's lovable and a good guy that will be happy to go to work for you, whether you want to show or ride for pleasure. He would be a great candidate for a rider that has some background with riding, but doesn't want to pay the big ticket price tag to have a good time. If that sounds like you, reach out to set up an appointment to meet Sharpie!
