Gunnar is a 15-year-old dark brown Quarter Horse from out west standing at 15 hands. He was previously a ranch horse and has the brands to prove it. Given his past, he obviously neck reins as well as English reins. I've owned him for nearly a year now. He worked our summer camp this past year and was often requested by the kids (ages 6 and up). Anyone can ride him, so he'd make a great family from little junior all the way up to Grandma.... (read more)
Gunnar is totally comfortable riding alone or in any position in a group of horses. He will walk quietly in a line of horses without riding the horse's butt in front of him, but he keeps up. Similarly, he will lead without having to constantly urge him to move forward, and he isn't spooky in the front like some horses. If your child or husband is an inexperienced rider, no one would be the wiser since they can take the lead if they'd like to on Gunnar because he's confident and non-reactive even in the front of a group of riders. Gunnar can make anyone look like they know what they are doing!
Gunnar loads like a dream. You'll never be late meeting your friends offsite because you can't catch or load your horse. He's easy to bathe and spray for flies too. Our customers really like Gunnar. Even the farriers like Gunnar because he's so easy to shoe. He's calm, and will stand at the hitching rail for hours without becoming nervous or restless. You can easily get Gunnar into a ncie jog or canter. This nice, quiet Quarter Horse is for sale and could be yours for just $8,400. You can't go wrong with this horse.
People always ask why we're selling our horses. There's nothing wrong with them. Quite the contrary. They're for sale because it's part of our business model: we buy, train, put lots of trail hours on them, and make them safe for beginners, and eventually we sell them at a profit to compensate us for all the training and trail hours we have put on them. We don't have to speculate as to what age or riding level a rider needs to be at in order to ride them. We KNOW because they've done it many times over. If we say a 6 year-old child with no riding experience can ride the horse, then they can - and have. And if we say we wouldn't put anyone younger than an inexperienced 10 year-old, then you shouldn't consider the horse for your 5 year-old to ride on their own. All our horses sell as sound with no vices. To see all of our horses for sale, schedule time to come see them at Dead Broke Farm. Prices listed are firm.
