Hello! I have a wonderful 17-year-old Paint/Paso Fino cross mare (14.3-15 hands) looking for a new home / a step-down job:

“Pros”:
- Previously a rodeo horse and then a pet for 10 years; recently a lesson horse.
- Primarily ridden by kids (under 100 lbs) but can handle adults.
- Thrives with regular work; suited for lighter riding.
- Very affectionate and takes treats gently.
- Easy to handle and catch; good ground manners.... (read more)
- Loads well in a trailer and is not spooky around chaos.
- Barefoot with no special diet; UTD on shots/dewormer.
- Great for leadline with littles, companion (good with minis as well!), or easy/light riding (w/t for kids a few times a week)

“Cons/Quirks”:
- Arthritis that flares up in front legs during winter.
- Buddy sour; gets attached to other horses and paces when they leave.. after a while she gets used to it and no longer paces when she knows they come back.
- Takes extra time to adjust to new places; once acclimated she is great with chaos/NOT spooky.
- Slow to drop the bit when removing the headstall; I have worked with her extensively and she has gotten so much better.
- Needs time to get comfortable for independent riding away from her ‘buddy’ horse(s) if she gets attached.
- Is suitable for beginners with a trainer; better for intermediate riders.
- Can dance a little during baths; impatient but overall good and youth safe to wash.
- Hard ties; okay in crossties but not her favorite.
- Scar on back left hoof, has been there for years has never opened or caused any issues, purely superficial.

This is a very difficult decision for me, but she deserves a situation with more individual attention and space. Located in Santa Clarita, CA, offered at low x,xxx and will go with a strict first right/buy-back contract. This is a WONDERFUL horse for someone out there. *If you are looking for a horse for heavy intense riding this is not your girl.
