Seeking an intermediate rider/handler for a unique partnership opportunity with Silver, a 9 year old 14.2hh grey Azteca gelding.
Silver is ready to bond with the right partner who understands the value of taking things slow and steady on his journey back to work after surviving and recovering from injuries sustained when an EF3 tornado went through his pasture last year.... About Silver:
- Has a gentle, personable, curious, and sometimes “spirited” disposition
- Expressive communicator
- Basically catches himself in the paddock or pasture
- Is willing to learn new things, but has excellent situational awareness and is easily distracted
- Survivor of an EF3 tornado with an inspiring recovery journey from front left leg injury (severed extensor tendon) and facial lacerations
- Successfully healed from a previous right hind leg injury (fibrotic myopathy)
- Has former training/experience in a Western Saddle with extensive riding outside of an arena and on trails in the Houston, TX area
- Has been started over x-rail fences and was willing to jump low fences/obstacles prior to his injuries
Training Focus:
- Currently learning the English riding discipline in an arena setting
- Currently re-entering work with a focus on:
- Progressive groundwork exercises and longeing
- Basic flatwork development
- Polework for strength and coordination
- Potential return to trail riding and low-level jumping up to 2 feet in the future after reconditioning and with substantive training

Ideal Partner Should:
- Have intermediate riding, handling, and horse care experience
- Be calm and confident
- Be clear and firm with aids
- Be patient and understanding with the rehabilitation process
- Be willing to participate in groundwork sessions
- Have experience with flatwork and pole exercises
- Be able to commit to 2-4 days per week and pay 1/2 board at $350/month
