Apollo is a stunning and athletic gelding with long, smooth strides that make him a pleasure to ride. He excels on trails, riding best in the company of other horses. We acquired him about a year ago from an owner where he had been pastured and not ridden for an unknown length of time.... (read more) According to his previous owner, Apollo was started on jumping and ridden extensively before being turned out.

Since bringing him home, my 13-year-old daughter (who is an excellent rider) restarted him, and he has proven to be a versatile partner. He has participated in a lot of very challenging trail rides, done some basic jumping, and been used for riding around pastures extensively. Apollo has no issues with having his feet handled and trimmed. My daughter rides him in an English Saddle.

Highlights:
Trail Rides: Confident and capable, he thrives on the trails.
Jumping: Has some basic jumping experience.
Hoof Care: Easy to handle; his right front hoof grows faster and requires trimming every 2-3 weeks.

Unique Features:
Calcium deposit on his right hip (present when purchased; seen if you look closely in the photo on his right side); it does not affect his movement or stride in any way.
Pushy at feeding time and prefers to ride after meals.

Recommendations:
Apollo has plenty of energy and speed, making him a better fit for an experienced rider. He is not suited for young children or those without riding experience.
