Beautiful buttermilk buckskin Mare. I bought her about 3 years ago in hopes to get a baby or two out of her. I have tried 3 years now and she hasn’t produced a foal. My vet thinks she may need to be cultured as it looks like she has had a foal in the past. I however do not want to culture her and find out that she still won’t conceive a foal. She is starting to get into her later teens and I no longer think it is necessary to try breeding her with her getting older.... (read more) I am starting to get into breeding. I bought a stud colt this last year and I plan on riding him for most of the summer, so I will not have time for her and she deserves better than to sit in the pasture.
She is a great riding horse. I can ride her without an issue. She rides along busy highways with motorcycles or semis flying right by. She isn’t even slightly fazed. I can put my Bluetooth speaker on the saddle and the noise and vibrations do not bother her one bit. I have rode double on her and she doesn’t bat an eye.
I found out after I bought her that her tongue is split in half. The previous owner told me she refused to ride her, I honestly believe she was scared of her. She told me she sent her to a trainer and the trainer sent her back. If you use a bit on her, she’s going to react and she will buck. I would too if you put a bit on an old injury. I have rode her in a hackamore ever since and she does phenomenal. She is very responsive and is very well mannered. However, if she knows you are scared or inexperienced, she will take advantage of you without a doubt.
Stands for farrier, stands for vet, stands tied, etc.
I did recently notice that she started coughing when we fed a round bale. I talked to my vet and she suggested that I water down my round bales or I buy squares because the dust could be bothering her. I started soaking and rolling out my round bales and her coughing cleared up on its own.
I can also let her out of the horse pen and she will stay in the yard just to graze. She doesn’t really wander and she stays in the yard.
Up to date on shots. And her coggins was done 9/24/24 and she was negative
