Please forgive me if this seems “too detailed” of an ad, but this is a hard one for me. I’ve raised her since she was 6 months old, I broke her in, and I’d always hoped for great things from us as team, BUT sometimes your needs outgrow what said horse can provide you know.... (read more) I love her endlessly, but I need to find something more capable/suitable for my needs & personality.
Some info:
SUPER easy keeper
Zero maintenance
Barefoot
Sound
Broke to ride
Started on barrel pattern (In Nov 2023)
Intermediate riders & up (I wouldn’t tell anyone she’s beginner friendly nor kid safe as I’ve just never really let either ride her very much).
Not saying it’s not possible, but if you’re gonna put a kid on her - they need to know what they’re doing.
She neck reins, direct reins, and we’ve started working on moving off leg more.
She’s a beautiful mover, and has the looks to go with it! (She’s absolutely gorgeous once she sheds winter coat).
Anything I’ve thrown at her she’s done - from barrels, poles, drill team (just trotting/slow loping some drills), parades, trail riding, riding along highways, working cows, swimming.
She’s done a lot in her life now that I think about it.
She’s spooky though. I’ve never done a TON of desensitizing with her, so she could definitely benefit from that.
She’s boss mare. I’ve yet to find a horse (big or small) that has put her in her place. She’s not a bully boss mare though, usually. She definitely does better with geldings compared to mares.
She stands for baths, saddling, vet, and farrier. She is iffy with farriers, but if they’re genuine & patient (like my current one who she loves) then she will do better.
Her coggins JUST expired.
Faults of hers::
Sometimes she’s fresh if you give her a lot of time off, and she will give little bucks, but she isn’t bucking to get you off. I just work them out of her & she is great.
I’ve had a hell of a time loading her lately. Once I get where we are going she’s great, but getting her in my trailer has been a real hassle. The issue came out of nowhere & I’m not sure what’s going on. I’m sure she’s just needing time and patience, which I don’t have much of either to go out and work with her on loading. Especially when she’s been doing great with it her whole life up until recently. Maybe it’s my trailer ?♀️ maybe it’s me. Who knows. It’s her biggest downfall currently.
Her conformation isn’t winning any awards. Her front legs are slightly wonky, but overall I think the rest of her looks pretty good. I have had ZERO lameness/soundness issues with her.
I’m sure there’s information I’m forgetting, so feel free to ask me more about her if it isn’t already listed. I feel she would excel with the right person, just coming to the realization that it isn’t me. (I think she knows I’m not a mare person?).
I can send videos on barrels, poles and doing some slow drills if wanted.
I would possibly be interested in trades, but the requirements for that would be:
Gelding
4-10 years old
Broke to ride
No maintenance (preferred)
No bad habits
Capable and useable
15hh and up
(I’m trying to progress in drill team so I need a horse that is sound & sane).
Nothing gated, other than that color & breed doesn’t necessarily matter.
NO super hard keepers.
Doesn’t need to be patterned on anything nor have drill team experience, just needs to be capable & willing.
Currently looking for a super cheap, or free, broke to ride horse for my husband. I own a one year old filly, 2 geldings and 2 mares. All are spoiled and loved and any horse I take in will be as well. Looking for something close to me but willing to travel a couple of hours If need be. If you see my bio, and have something I may be interested in, please feel free to contact me. Thank you. -Krissy
