Little Joe is the perfect pony for beginner-intermediate levels. I've had him for 5 years and he's been my best friend, but unfortunately with some new horses coming in and not being home all the time I haven't been able to give him the attention he deserves. I'm looking for someone who can love him and cherish him just as I always did until he's ready to be retired.
Don't let his age fool you, Joe is 26 going on 16.... (read more) He is eager to work and is still spirited as he always was. He keeps weight on well and still loves to jump and run a speedy barrel pattern. I've jumped him up to 3 feet, but he is most comfortable around 2'3. He has done and will do it all! He's been out on cross country, done many different western activities and showed at many venues in the hunter, jumper and equation ring. His speciality is show jumping. He won 4th, 5th 6th and 3rd with me in 2'3 jumpers at the Erie County Fair a couple years ago. I've taken him to Attica and he won 4th on barrels. He's still got the speed and the height to be a great fit for someone looking to just ride around at home or take him on adventures.
He's very low on the pecking order, so he would prefer to be in a pasture with kinder geldings. We don't blanket him much as he grows a great winter coat, and he's just on a simple senior feed. He's the sweetest boy ever and absolutely loves kids! I've taught lessons on him and he's done summer camp with kids ages 5-12. He'll give you the ride and experience you ask him for. He hasn't been ridden much through the winter, but it doesn't take much to get him back into shape.
I absolutely trust this horse with my life. We've done lots of liberty work and he loves to follow his person around anywhere. I've jumped him bareback, tackless, galloped him through fields and taken him swimming. This guy has experience on almost anything! He's very calm, let's us shoot guns around him and puts up with anything you throw at him.
If you have any questions or are interested please don't hesitate to reach out! We will require you to try him out just at our house first and I would like him to stay close so I can still visit him. I can send videos and arrange anything you need. He could stay at our house, where he is now, but we would have to arrange a price for boarding added onto the lease, we just don't have a very big property or an indoor arena. We are willing to work anything out just to make sure he's at a good home!
