“Buck” aka Remington's Buckshot - a 12 year old buttermilk buckskin Quarter Horse registered with the ABRA (American Buckskin Horse Association) standing 14.2 hands tall. Buck is a sweet and kind gelding with a no-nonsense personality, easy and quiet to handle on the ground. He was started and trained by my 13 year old daughter who now wants to step up to a possible speed event horse. This gentle boy is easy to catch, and will come with you quietly to stand in the barn for grooming, farrier work, bathing, tacking up or just hanging out with you, mooching treats and scratches and putting his head in your lap.... Under saddle Buck is a motivated medium-forward ride and has been ridden by intermediate riders and up. He is a little fast for a true beginner but will carry kids perfectly all day if lead. He has been ridden both English and western, will walk/trot/lope circles well in an arena setting, and understands his leads fairly well. He will pop over the occasional cross rails, ground poles, has had a rope thrown off of him, will drag logs, and carry a flag while under saddle. No spook or silliness.
Out on the trail Buck is very willing to go out in a group or alone. He has attended several public rides and overnight camping trips including Buffalo River Trails in Waynesboro TN and Land between the Lakes Wrangler camp in Kentucky. Buck handles new environments and camping with no trouble and will cross logs, ditches, climb hills, and is also traffic and highway safe. Buck is also accustomed to the general hubbub of our farm life and equipment including tractors, skidsteers, four wheelers, dogs, cats, chickens, and “extra noise producing” children.
Buck is 100% sound and barefoot. No maintenance, no vices, no bad habits. He comes with his registration papers, current coggins papers, and vet checks are of course welcome. Please call or email for further questions or to set up a date to come and meet Buck!
