Maverick is a very sweet Standardbred gelding. He raced (sadly, I do not know his history :/), and then was an Amish horse (also guessing, but 95% sure). He was then rescued by his previous owners, then gifted to our farm. We have been using him for trail rides every now and then and my mom rides him, but we are starting to ride him more consistently. He’d be a fantastic husband or boyfriend horse. I mean, someone came to try him and crawled up under him and just stood there-head down-didn’t have a care in the world.... (read more) Because he is a Standardbred; he paces. When is is held together and you’re not flopping about on him- he has an amazing trot, but as soon as you let yourself go he gets bouncy. We are currently working on getting an even pace in the trot and then we will start working towards the canter. You can tell he wants to canter(especially on the trail), but he’s scared he’s going to get punished, so with time, trust, and a little freedom he will get there. His ONLY vice is that he has a scar in his Left eye that has caused some loss of sight. It doesn’t cause him any discomfort-it’s not going to get worse-and you would never know unless I told you (he doesn’t even know lol). He’s high on the totem pole, easiest keeper, thick as a brick, sound(never been lame with us), walks up to you in the field(see video), the most amazing feet, stands tied, loads and unloads, good with kids/donkeys/mares/goats/roosters/minis.
Please note: we are conditioning him throughout the winter, so his price will continue to increase the more work I put into him. As well as we are ONLY selling because we are facing changes at our farm and need a horse who jumps and canters immediately. Snatch him up now and put him under your Christmas tree!!
