Chance is a stunning AQHA registered smokey buckskin gelding, standing at a hair over 15hh. He's built strong, stout and compact, with four straight legs and healthy, hardy feet. He's got kind eyes, a very sweet demeanor, is always the first one to meet you at the gate and easily one of the nicest horses to be around.
At 8 years old, Chance has done a little bit of everything and been to a lot of different places. He handles whatever you put in front of him with curiosity and a desire and willingness to learn and go to work.... (read more) He has been trail-ridden all over the place in different kinds of terrain, is surefooted in rocky country and goes out great by himself or with others.
He is well-broke in the arena and has a nice walk, trot, stunning extended trot, a very comfortable lope, side-pass, stop and spin, and wouldn't take much to enter him in a ranch riding or rail class. He neck reins well one-handed and will open and close gates, drag logs/tires, go over obstacles, pony young colts, jump, go through ditches and cross water. Over the last few months, he's turned into a handy ranch horse as well and has spent days helping gather cattle, and sorting and working them in the corrals. He has tracked and roped the dummy a bunch, and picks up new things you put in front of him in a hurry.
He would make a really nice ranch versatility horse, rope horse, team penning/sorting prospect, and has also been on the barrel pattern and shown promise; if you should choose to hone in on a particular discipline. He has also crossed bridges/obstacles, and would do great at obstacle/trail competitions.
Chance is absolutely lovely to be around and has the in-your-pocket personality, but is a gentleman about it. He loves giving kisses and is happy to hang out together. He has great ground manners and stands great for the farrier, loads in trailer and hauls great, stands to be tied wherever, etc. He has great feet, the farrier only has good things to say about them.
Chance is a good mixture of whoa and go. If you don't push him, he's happy to go at a slower pace, and if you push him/ask for speed or effort, he's happy to pick up the pace and step up to whatever you're asking. When out on the trail, he maintains a nice pace where you don't have to constantly paddle or keep holding him back. He has had beginners on him and done pony rides, however I believe for him to be consistently good for a beginner or kid, it'd be best if they worked together with a trainer and/or more experienced rider. He would do great with an intermediate rider looking to learn and grow to the next level on or for an advanced rider to take and show and be able to go many different directions in, or simply have a ton of fun on and enjoy a really special friendship you're bound to have with Chance (he won't have it another way). He'd made a great family horse for a family looking to do a mix of trail riding, arena riding/lessons, and showing.
He is UTD on shots, farrier, had his teeth done the first week of December, and is 100% sound, with no maintenance. Vet checks are most welcome. For more information, questions, pictures or videos, or to set up a time to come meet and try out Chance, feel free to email, text or call me.
