If you are looking for a solid mount to ride on trails or to check fences and cattle, then take a look at Sugar. She is a gorgeous 12 year old sorrel mare, 14.3 hh and very well built with a big hip, wide chest, and cute little babydoll head. Sugar is AQHA registered as “Hot Sparkin Sugar” #5463642. She is old foundation breeding, and out of a granddaughter of Shining Spark. (read more) They used her to check cattle and fences and ride around their ranch, and she was their go to horse for throwing guests on when they needed a safe horse to pack them around. The ranch recently sold and now Sugar is looking for a new home where she will be used. Sugar is gentle and loves people, and will meet you at the gate begging for attention. She doesn’t have the desire to be a performance horse, but loves a nice easy stroll through the pasture. She isn’t lazy, just prefers to be on the slow side of life. Sugar travels out nicely in the pasture, and will easily trot and lope if asked, but will never go any faster than you ask her to. She rides quietly on a loose rein, is easy to steer, and stops and backs up well. Sugar is sound with no health or soundness issues, and is an easy keeper. She has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, and doesn’t need to be ridden every day to stay gentle. Sugar is very sure footed and will go up, over or through anything you point her at. She will cross water, go through tall brush, and isn’t spooky. She is good for the shoer, loads and hauls well, and stands quietly tied. Sugar will ride out alone as well as with a group, will happily lead or follow and has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. We can hold her until Christmas if needed!
