The Duke! This is a solid built 15.1hh gelding ready to go do a job. He is a cadenced mover and is really a pleasure for the eye to see his combination of strength and elegance in movement. He is willing to move forward with three lovely gaits. He has the movement and presence to be noticed by the judges in the ring and the sturdy capacity to get packed out in the high country.
Duke's human education began years ago when he was gathered from the Saulsbury HMA and sent out to a TIP training program.... (read more) From there, he was sent out for 90 days of education under saddle. After that, he did a whole bunch of well... nothing. He hung out in pasture and got his hooves trimmed and hung out with his humans. They have come to the conclusion that if it hasn't happened in ten years, it might be better to look for a different situation for this big, handsome fellow.
Here he is, ready for the next chapter. He's come into the barn to "knock the dust off" and get back into his work groove. While he is in the program, we will be assessing his strengths on the ground and under saddle. We are looking for someone with the resources to continue on with him and live their part of the American dream with their own BLM gelding.
Duke is strong, sturdy and built to last. He's got clean legs and is barefoot. He's great to trim and easy to catch out in a field. He's got no vices and is very comfortable around people. Duke does get seasonal allergies and does best with a fly sheet and booties during the summer months.
For the equestrian on a budget that sill wants the look of a big, handsome gelding with a good foundation of professional training, Duke is a great option, started back to work, and ready to carry on in his new home!
