Our farm is offering “Chief.” Located in Bristol , Va. He’s approximately 15.2 HDs and 12 yrs old. Around 5 months ago Chief and his buddy were playing in the pasture and his buddy accidentally kicked Chief in his upper leg and fractured a small NON weight bearing bone in his elbow. Chief was on stall rest for awhile and now he is being turned out during the day in the pasture. Most of the time he walks just fine but occasionally he will take a small “off” step.... (read more) The vet said he could develop a little arthritis from it. He’s probably not going to be able to be used as a daily rider anymore but he possibly could be used for light riding. We have not started asking him to lunge, trot or canter yet and don’t know if he can but he’s been going out in the pasture and doing well. If someone is willing to give him a little time and bring him back slow he could probably be used for light riding. We have not started trotting him etc. We can provide a video of him being walked down the hallway. We are not lunging him yet. He may only be able to lightly trail ride at a walk because even though it was a small non weight bearing bone that was fractured it was unable to be reset which will probably cause some arthritis. He walks ok with just an “off” step occasionally. This gelding was priced four times what he is now before he was injured. He would be perfect for a family looking for a gentle gelding to love on and possibly lightly ride or for an individual looking for a gentle soul that could offer companionship to another horse or use for light riding possibly . He’s an unbelievably nice gelding. It is possible to purchase him online like the rest of our horses. Video clips available. These videos were made before he was injured but I wanted to post them to show what a gentle loving soul he is. We can also get a video of us walking him through the barn now as well. He’s a sweet gentle gelding. He’s a well put together gelding. . Hes currently stall kept with daily turnout. We keep our horses trimmed every 6 weeks and we vaccinate them ourselves. He would be a fabulous family horse. An excellent home a MUST. The only reason he is for sale is because our farm is up for sale and we are drastically downsizing. He will come with a coggins and a health certificate for transport. We work with some wonderful transporters so delivery is available. Traders please don’t contact me about him.
