Taffy's breeding is that of a high quality performance horse, with bloodlines carefully selected she was born to have a performance career. Taffy loves to work and thrives in a performance program. She has the foundational training to make you and your trainer very happy! She collects beautifully with a classic reining frame, moves off of leg and seat pressure to make cueing subtle enough for the show pen, picks up all gaits including walk extended walk trot extended trot lope extended lope, side passes making working a gait easy, spins willingly and with speed when asked, her sliding stops have been started and she is happy to sit deep in sliding plates, started on a mechanical flag, and has simple lead changes. Taffy has all the buttons and is a fancy enough mover for the ranch riding. In the ranch versatility show pen she has done well showing with a confident intermediate youth rider. Taffy is not lazy and will ride well with regular schooling, she is an absolute work horse and enjoys having a regular job. The performance pen is where she is meant to be drawing attention with her beautiful gray color and long mane and tail: she is an eye catcher! Currently, owned and shown by a 12 yo youth rider. Together they have won multiple Champions and Reserve Champions. Taffy has been ridden in English tack as well competing in Walk-Trot Cross Rails divisions, bringing home a Champion Ribbon at their first show! Taffy rides just as well bareback for a casual day at the barn. She loves attention, and is a favorite at our barn. Taffy has spent lots of time on the trail, as well as being ridden in heavy arena traffic at the shows. Taffy loves turnout time and is a good companion in the pasture with other horses. She is sturdy enough to carry any size rider will be enough horse for a trainer to showcase as her career advances. She is a great opportunity for a performance rider looking to show.
Easy to bathe Taffy is no stranger to getting dolled up for a horse show, a round of purple shampoo and conditioner is all you need to highlight this horses natural good looks. She is easy to clip and has been clipped regularly for photos, shows, and regular maintenance. No problem picking up feet or standing for the farrier, she has worn front shoes and sliders. The vet has an easy time with Taffy and she is UTD on all regular vet work. Loading and hauling is no issue with Taffy she loads right up, walking on with her handler or easy to send on the last stall in the trailer and once arrived she backs off with ease. Never any issues with her health Taffy is not sensitive to changes in location or weather, eating drinking and staying fat and happy on the road. Taffy is kept blanketed and under lights to stay slick for the show pen. Fed alfalfa hay and a handful of grain this mare is an easy keeper staying fat and shiny with no fancy grain or supplements needed.
