Additional Comments
"April" is a big bodied tall sporthorse mare. She was trained by Smantha Ellis in Western pleasure and English.
April has been used as a HUS amateur and has done jumping (for fun, never shown).
She has been used on our ranch checking fences and trail rides for the kids.
She is Very forward and has lots of forward movement.
She moves elegantly at a wtc. She was also conditioned for endurance but the rider backed out of Tevis before she was able to compete.... (read more)
Due to our life, April has sat for past three years and when restarted this summer she cam up unsound, vet said possible tendon injury and to just rest. She was used as a broodmare and produced a very athletic and tall (16.2hh) half AQHA colt in 2022 (dunskin).
She is open due to no fault of her own (we didn't have our lease pasture for foaling out). She is available for a breed lease for 2025/2026.
April is perfect for those looking for potential sporthorses, hus, and endurance horses. She can add height without losing body mass for roping horses if bred to the right stallion.
A contract will be signed and a REFUNDABLE deposit will be due at time of pick up. There is an extensive contract, so be prepared with two vet references, farrier references, two personal, and two professional references, as well as a facility/property check prior to drop off or pick-up. You will also have to carry liability insurance.
April had a breeding exam done by Loomis Basin in 2023 and was breeding sound. A new exam would be done at lessor's expense.
We would be open to putting April under lights before leasing for early breeding in 2025.
April is a dominant mare and does best with horses that can hold their own or in her own paddock/pasture. She is very easy to catch, load, stand, etc. She has never been AI'd, only live covered and took on the first breeding with no complications, a full term foal.
Foal is now started under saddle and is so easily trainable and very athletic.
We are open to terms of re-breeding but not necessary.
For any other questions, please reach out. No, I do NOT have any videos at this time. We do not have a round pen or arena to show movements. If need be we can meet you at a local horse ranch and you can see her movements in their arena/pen (I will cover the haul in charge and use fees).
