“Buddy” is a 15 year old Draft cross gelding standing 16.1 hands high. He has good barn manners and stands quietly in a stall. Although Buddy is an ex bucking horse he has no interest in his feet leaving the ground and that includes jumping as well. This is, however, a brilliant trail horse. He is wonderful on the trails and has lots of miles. Buddy rides out alone or in a group and will lead, ride in the middle, or follow the group. He crosses bridges, ditches, hills, water, rocks, roots etc.... (read more) He will walk over fallen logs, sometimes you’ll get him to pop over one with a little enthusiasm but getting all feet off of the ground requires a bit too much effort in most cases. Speaking of feet, he has great feet and is barefoot and does not require shoes. This boy will lift his feet for you when he gets to know you. He doesn’t require stock with a patient farrier he knows and trusts. Buddy knows where his feet are at and is careful going down the trails on uneven and rough terrain. Buddy is blind in his left eye but it certainly doesn’t bother him. We still tack/harness, and mount from the blind side. He isn’t jumpy or spooky, he is well adapted and it’s almost completely unnoticeable.
