Firecracker is a 16 year old, welsh cob/thoroughbred, gelding who was started slowly under saddle starting at age 12. So despite being a teen he has rather low miles. Overall he has about 120 days professional training under saddle broken up into two sixty days, a summers worth of being ridden full time much of which was on the trail, and countless hours of ground work both in hand, at liberty, and ground driving.

On the trail he is alert but not spooky, one memory that stands out was him sinking up to his knees in a hole when a burrow of some kind collapsed under him. He just stepped out of it and kept walking without any hesitation.
He stands for the vet, farrier, and bathing.
He really is a fantastic, fun, safe pony. That being said he’s no dead head. He has a lot of energy, can be quite sensitive and has a lot of desire to play and engage with his people which can easily overwhelm a beginner.
I rode him lightly this past spring but he has been sitting since then and will need a tune up to get back to where he was, from there he’ll be ready for finishing work.
His ideal person is a kid or petite adult who is looking for a manageable project to really lean in and grow in their horsemanship with.
He has minor quirks (tendency to want to balance on the bit, not being supple about giving to pressure, only wanting to load half way into the trailer before parking himself and taking a nap) that are all really safe things for someone just getting started with training their own horse to work through, especially with a good mentor.
Easy keeper, barefoot, comes with a newer 15” Circle Y saddle that fits him. Open to reasonable offers, my priority is placing him in a good home.
