Rio is a beautiful well built bay QH mare that anyone can ride. She was most recently owned by a family and used for trail and pleasure riding, She has been ridden by the whole family for pleasure and trail riding and has been on the trails here at Banshee Ranch, ridden through obstacles over teeter-totter, noisy bridges, through thick brush, over fallen trees, across water, downstream, up/down/across deep ditches and ravines. She will ride with a loose one-hand neck rein, a good backup, and stop.... (read more) She is smooth at the walk, trot, and canter. Rio will ride the same way, every time whether she is rode every day or a few times a year, We just warm her up if it's been a while.
Rio will stand still while being clipped, bathed, groomed, fly sprayed, picking her feet, and for the vet/farrier, and while being bridled, and saddled. She stands still for mounting (from the ground or from a mounting block), she stands tied to the trailer, fence or cross ties, and she loads and hauls very well. She is very gentle, with good ground manners, she is easy to catch, is kid and dog friendly, and gets along well with all of our other horses, she hasn't been "mare-ish". She will suit the beginner or novice and has the fancy handle that the old pro will enjoy.
Rio will be a great prospect for; ranch sorting, team penning, grand entry, playdays, barrels, poles, goat tying, drill team, parades, queen's contest, trail riding, trail competitions, walk-trot, lead line, 4-H, FFA, or as a lesson horse. She would make a great family horse, she is gentle enough for the kids to ride and learn on, and then will go to work for mom and dad as a using horse for the ranch, at events, or on trail rides.
Rio is a very beautiful bay mare standing 14hh, with halter horse conformations. She has a beautiful refined head, a pretty face with a kind eye, a good strong thick neck and shoulder, a nice mane and tail, a good wither, straight back, with a wide chest, and that BIG QH BUTT that we all LOVE!!!! The pictures do not do her justice!!! She is STOUT!!! And can carry a larger rider with ease. She is safe, sound, sane, with no vices. Please no outside trades, deposits, or payment plans. All horses are the sole property of Doug Gittins and come with; a 30 day guarantee in writing (as a signed contract), a current negative Coggins, and we give every horse a strep (strangles) and a flu/rhino 4-1 vaccine.
