Additional Comments
Whiskey is a young horse that we were hoping to use for barrels, but because life gets in the way sometimes, we have decided we need to sell him. He is not trained to do barrels, but had hopes to train him up the way we wanted him to be. My daughter worked with him some, and progress was made, but we don't have the time it's going to take to get him to where she needs him to be.
When we first got him he was rude! (HAHA). He had little to no manners, and tried to be a bully.... (read more) He now will stand for the farrier, wait patient for his food, he loads in the trailer but is sometimes hesitant. It takes encouragement and patience but he does load up. It took a while to get him to that point, but he finally was successful!! Just from the little amount of time we have spent with him he has improved, but needs someone who will keep working with him and spend the time he needs to keep his attitude in check.
In the round pin he lunges well, and when given the "woah" command, he turns to his instructor.
Under the saddle my daughter and her cousins have ridden him around our little town. There are things that spook him but overall he does well. At our family ranch when the cousins all ride together he is more of a follower than a leader. He enjoys the water and gets along with the other horses. Whoever is riding him needs to be a dominant rider. He needs to know that the "boss" is on his back.
He is up to date on feet and shots. He is very healthy, and has no feet problems.
