Dakota MLH Diamond, barn name "Kota" is a 2018, 15h, Registered FBHR, Friesian/Paint cross mare.
Kota is such a fun mare! She has extensive trail riding experience in town, in the national forest, alone, and in groups. She worked with and roped some cows with her previous owner (a teenage boy), and sort of understands neck reining.... (read more) I introduced her to jumping and dressage basics this spring. She was ridden by a dressage trainer, who told me she felt Kota could reach potentially 3rd level in a dressage-focused home.
Undersaddle she is forward-thinking but still soft enough to be ridden in a snaffle. She has a nice ground-covering walk, picks up both canter leads, and understands the concept of moving off your legs and is schooling a flying change on a figure 8. If you don't feel like saddling her, she is also happy to let you hop on bareback and go for a ride around the pasture in the evening.
She stands quietly for bathing, is easy to load and unload, and is one of the first horses to the gate when you call. She loves to be brushed and is fine with kids brushing her, or climbing up and down the fence rails while she is working.
Kota is fine in a stall or out in the pasture full time, she is happy to be barefoot or to wear shoes to go riding in the mountains. She currently lives in a mixed herd and gets along well with all the other horses.
Kota would be super fun to bring along as a working equitation prospect, a jumper, as she is brave to the jump and seems to enjoy that, or she would be beautiful in the dressage arena, or out on the trail! The sky is the limit with this special girl!
