Additional Comments
"Madam Maxine" AKA Ruby has been a favorite among instructors and has lead trail rides in Sedona for the last eight years in our program. A truly fantastic trail horse, she's incredibly sweet and a great temperament. She's ready to be someone's next go-to trail horse!
She is currently being used in a high school equestrian program that tends to be beginner focused, and as we downsize our herd she's one we don't want to see stand around.... (read more) She is often used by instructors/wranglers to lead rides since she likes to be out in front, so it's been hard to maintain consistency due to the nature of a high school program. She has had intermediate riders on her and been used in gymkhanas and English, and is very talented at both. She's safe, steady, and well-mannered, she just moves like she's got somewhere to be when she's out on the trail! We think someone looking for a trail horse to go out alone or with friends would be a perfect life for her, as she's great by herself or with a group. She has always been a forward mover and likes to be out in front, but is not prancy, nervous, or naughty, and can stand and wait patiently.
Her right eye was enucleated in July 2024 due to an infection that was not resolving as it should have. She has adjusted well and where her eye was removed has healed beautifully. She's been ridden on trails since and is doing well, but occasionally you can see her taking an extra minute to look at shadows and we believe her depth perception may still be adjusting. But she's not spooky on her blind side and re-entered her ridden work with no issues. She's got a great mind and is a really reliable riding horse.
She stands, ties, is great for the farrier, loads in the trailer, lives out in a herd and is low-mid pecking order. She's not buddy sour and is totally content being ridden out by herself. Her only vice is she is needle-phobic. An easy keeper whose coat is always shiny, she is a sweet girl who will be deeply missed.
We take selling and rehoming very seriously, so a home that is a good fit is the first priority. As such, we will be 100% transparent about her vice with needles, her adjusting to her eye removal, and of course, how much we enjoy riding her.
