Meet Stewie. Stewie has become a barn favorite and it won’t be hard for you to understand why once you meet him! Not only is he all about the hugs and pets in the stall, he’s a funny sort of guy who’s always looking to see what your reaction is going to be to his next antic!
Stewie rides and he’s pretty broke! There was a day when he was show ready for the ranch classes and could also do the pleasure. It would not take a good trainer long to get him back to that.... (read more) Even with my amateur skills, he knows what he’s supposed to do he just needs someone to make it pretty again!
Stewie is a super comfortable horse to ride! His trot is like a ride on a pontoon and his lope is like sitting in a rocking chair!
He trail rides as well. He takes it all in stride and is good alone or in a group! He doesn’t seem too bothered by traffic or anything else you might encounter on the ride. He rides with dogs all the time and accepts them as part of the program!
He is trained to lunge by voice command and does it with style.
He’s an easy saddle and go with little to no drama! He may get slightly nervous in a new environment and does best with either a few minutes of lunging or just slow riding until he settles. Most times we just get on and ride but if it’s something you’re worried about then take advantage of his lunging expertise!
He is very easy to have around as well. Currently barefoot with zero maintenance! He gets alfalfa and grass with a dusting of grain every day and keeps very well on that! He has no vices at all. He gets hauled a couple times a week and will tie in the trainer alone or nose to nose with other horses. He stands to be blanketed, good for farrier, and whatever else you could want to do with him!
He’s got good legs and feet and the only blemish you could possibly find on him is a slight bump on his left front that’s never bothered him in any way and if I didn’t point it out, you might miss it altogether.
He would be best for an intermediate rider and above. He’s pretty broke and a beginner would not know how to handle the buttons.
He sells with an UTD coggins, vaccines, and foot trim (if he’s still here when the farrier comes)
If you have interest in meeting him please give Emily a call at our phone number. If you are from out of the area I am happy to schedule a video call to meet him as well
