Cons:
*He requires maintenance! He is a BIG guy that was not taken care of in his younth, so he needs regular chiropractic to keep his body in correct alignment, PEMF helps too
*Because his feet were not taken care of properly either, he has permanent damage. His cycle needs to stay at 4 weeks and not go any longer otherwise they will flare and cause more damage.
*Correct saddle fit is an absolute must. If the saddle pinches his withers he will tell you.
Odin has done a little bit of everything. He has been a lesson horse, done guided trail rides, arena work, trails, driving and even parades. This guy is a big easy going love bug and will stand for hours to be fussed over. He has a double mane that does require frequent brushing! He rides alone or in groups. Anyone old enough to ride on thier own can do so with this guy. Husband safe, but also responsive enough to be fun for even an advanced rider. Prefers bitless with newbies as he is very light on the bit and super responsive. He is not fancy broke, but will move off your legs when asked. He rides English or western(with direct rein). He is responsive and polite. Traffic doesn't bother him a bit. He prefers leisurely trail rides but will do just about anything. He is pastured in a large herd with mares, geldings, minis and even a cow! He is a sweetheart but takes time to warm up to new horses. He prefers to stay outside(with a run-in) but can be stalled as long as the stall is 14x14 or bigger. A 12x12 is just too tight for this LARGE guy to fit and sleep comfortably. He is barefoot and has boots for rocky riding. No bite, kick, rear or bolt. Saddle fit is essential for him as he does have prominent withers. Being a large draft he requires a lot of feed. If you are new to draft horses, this must be taken into account. During the winter he most definitely needs more fat and fiber in his diet, but sugar content still needs to stay minimal. His diet consists of Timothy pellets, Alfalfa pellets and triple crown senior, with VT blend, Vitamin E, salt and flax. He gets chiro as frequently as needed and gets PEMF monthly to keep his body in good shape. PPE welcome at buyer expense. Located in Peacham VT.
