Magic is a 7 year old Friesian/Quarter Pony mare standing 13.3 hands high. This is the perfect winter project for a handy kid! Magic both rides and drives. She will pick up all three gaits under saddle and has a wonderful stop. She stands for mounting and dismounting, stands in cross ties or tied to the trailer, she loads, leads and has great ground manners. Magic needs some more desensitizing, she is looky/jumpy. She has never offered to bolt, buck, rear, or dart sideways but she looks at puddles like they're sink holes and makes sure the rocks aren't hiding her worst nightmare under them.... (read more) That being said, she is sensible, she almost has a handle on her emotions, she's just not quite there yet. We are on a working farm and she is around all farm equipment and animals, including tractors, loaders, trailers, cattle, hogs, sheep/goats, chickens, dogs, ducks, cats, you name it and she's probably around it. Magic is light and responsive in the mouth. Some more wet saddle pads and she will be one heck of a pony. She has no limitations and can go in any direction. I could see her as a super cute low level dressage pony or take her a western route and put her on the ranch. Magic has always been easy to catch in a field, she does look at you as if she contemplates running but she's yet to let intrusive thoughts take over. She is pastured with a mixed heard of mares, geldings, and foals. She is easy to get along with and goes about her way in the field. She will stand in a stall or happily turn out all day. She is barefoot and does not require shoes.
