This 7-year-old gelding is sired by the late Smart Like Juice, winner of nearly $60,000 himself, and sire of over $4 million in earners.... (read more) His dam, Tunderbird, is sired by Two T Tivio Tornado, who earned almost $14,000 in NRHA money, the hard way at small Midwestern horse shows. Bourbon is no stranger to the show pen with a long resume himself, being a point earner in NRHA, AQHA, Foundation Quarter Horse Association, and is a 2x AQHA Circuit Champion. Standing at 14.3, he is the perfect size for the whole family!
Bourbon has a fancy one-handed handle, a very quiet mind, and a kind demeanor. Smooth like a Cadillac, he is very comfortable to ride and has a luxury feel when you’re on him. With elegant lope departures, a steppy turn around, and a beautiful extended trot, he is a blast to cruise around! A push-style horse, he will go at whatever pace you tell him to. With a ton of presence, expression, and style, he is mesmerizing even in his everyday clothes.
Bourbon has the talent to be a high-caliber horse in whatever discipline, but the mind and work ethic to win. We believe it doesn’t stop as an accomplished reiner - he would also make a very fancy ranch versatility, ranch riding, stock horse of Texas, or even mounted shooting horse. Registered with the American Roan Horse Association, Foundation Quarter Horse Registry, and NRHA Nominated. The options are endless with this guy.
Barefoot in the front and has regular sliders in the back, no special shoeing is required. He doesn’t need any sort of injections or supplements, as he is as sound as one could be. Bourbon has been kept at home and maintained by a non pro the majority of his life. No vices or bad habits whatsoever, he is the epitome of a low-maintenance horse!
Bourbon stands very patiently when tied, no matter where he is. He stands still for the farrier and picks up his feet with no problem. He will load and unload with ease, back out, or turn around - your choice. He has been on cattle and shows a ton of cow sense. He lunges with slack in the line, leads like a gentleman, and has a good attitude with beginner riders.
We have never come across such a fancy frosted roan gelding. He is a rare combo of beauty, brains, and personality. Bourbon is the whole package. Whether you want to have a show horse, go down the trail, ride through your pastures, or simply have a beautiful companion, he will do it all. He has become a standout in our barn and is loved by anyone who has been around him. We hope he can find a special home to enjoy him for many years to come.
