We are a non -profit horse rescue and sanctuary in Grass Valley, CA. We are seeking a loving, forever home for Star Light
(AKA Flame), a 17 year old Appaloosa mare. She was born at our rescue in 2007. Her dam was a PMU mare and Star light was her 7th foal. They were able to spend 5 years together in our herd before mama crossed over.
Flame is quiet, calm and steady. She is a red dun, 16HH, and about 1000 lbs. She is healthy and sound.... (read more) She was raised in a herd environment but is a polite and well-mannered horse and respects and listens to her humans. She loves to be brushed and pampered, but her one quirk is she isn’t fond of water. When the other horses are getting hose downs in summer, she exits the pool party.
We started her under saddle this week, and she is doing very well. She will be available for adoption November 1. We are hoping to find an adoptive home that is nearby so we can keep in touch and also offer the new guardian 5 riding lessons with her current trainer to facilitate a smooth transition.
This is an adoption transaction with a NO BREEDING CLAUSE and a RIGHT OF FIRST REFUSAL CLAUSE. We are looking for a home where she has adequate room to run and play, shelter and at least one other horse for company. She would not be happy in a boarding facility. She is used to plenty of space, electric fences and equine companionship, and human attention. Adoption fee$750.
She eats alfala and some teff grass hay. She gets vitamin/mineral supplements. She is an easy keeper.
She comes with a fly mask, a rain sheet and winter blanket.
If you are interested in learning more about Flame, please email us with your pertinent information about horse experience, what type of stabling you can provide, etc. Thank you for your interest.
