He is a 15 year old QH cross gelding who has been used extensively as a rodeo pick up horse, he was used to get to the cowboys and grab them off the broncs at the end of their ride, used to help push the bulls back to their pens at rodeos and to help the rodeo clowns or roping the bulls and dragging them to their pens when necessary
Montana knows the barrel and pole patterns as well as Playday/4H events as he’s been around the rodeo life most of his life. He’s super comfortable and calm in an arena, has one of the softest trots and a nice short lope in addition when he’s asked he is FAST! He has been roped off of on the head side, was on a drill team for a few years, played around at team sortings and pennings, has an amazing one handed handle but also works off leg pressure as well and will go anywhere you point his nose. He stands about 15.1 and is a beautiful extremely sweet boy. I promise he would come inside and lay on the couch with you if he were able to! He will catch you and doesn’t want you to go when he’s with people, he’s very very dog like and personal, he likes to pick your hat off your head, check your pockets and will follow you like a dog. We give lessons to our local kiddos here on Montana and he is so great with the kids! I have many videos I am in the process of flipping down to be able to put them all together into one video I upload to YouTube and then attach the link when I have it finished. I will be attaching different links here to the bottom of his ad but they are featuring another horse however Montana is in pretty much every video as one of us always wants to ride him when we ride out. We call him the trusty steed cause we know he will handle anything! He would be a great one if things went crazy in the world because he will pack you and your necessities anywhere you need to go, you can hunt off of him or drag any game back to camp. Starting out my parents did the best they knew to do and believed people when they claimed the horses were safe for me, we didn’t have a lot of money and they didn’t have the years of experience needed to know the difference or what to look for that truly makes a good “Safe Family Horse” My goal is ALWAYS to match the right horse or horses with the right level of rider, to ensure the horses have good forever homes and my buyers are extremely happy and are as equipped as possible with everything they and their horse needs for their forever success and happiness with their new family! I sell multiple horses to families that I pair or fit together who ride well together, get along with each other etc. I also sale saddles and the tack you’ll need that will properly fit you and your horse, if you don’t have it so you are 100% ready to go ride once you get them home! If you have found a horse for sale with someone else that you like but are unsure if it will actually be a good match for you, I will personally travel to look at and ride the horse for you after getting to know you and will let you know if it will be a good match. I want to see people enjoy good horses and if I can help prevent a bad situation by providing advice, I am happy to help! Just because someone has been riding all their life or has been selling horses, has a horse for sale they have had for a while doesn’t technically qualify them to know if that horse is truly a beginner safe or family safe type horse. As previously mentioned, it takes years to be able to identify things and can be extremely dangerous to purchase from someone who isn’t a trained professional in the specific type of horse you are looking for! It is especially important that you are experienced and know what to look for or that you purchase from someone experienced, reputable and honest because one bad horse could cost you more than you ever want to imagine. Be cautious in your search and please do not hesitate to call or text me if there is anything I can help you with. EVEN, if that means that you don’t purchase a horse from me! I mean that genuinely! Most of my customers are complete beginners and the majority are over the age of 65 and quite a few have even become close friends, a few of them even insist on being bonus grandparents to my young children, which I LOVE!
