Additional Comments
Due to extenuating circumstances, the young lady who had spoken for Apache is unable to follow up with her purchase. Apache (born 4/5/24) is sired by our Friesian stallion, Vorn MFF (Doaitsen 420 x Beart 411 Sport Pref) and is out of our Percheron/Appaloosa mare Fiona. He is registered with the Friesian Heritage Horse and Sporthorse International Association as an Imperial Heritage Horse. Apache is microchipped and is UTD on vaccination, feet and deworming.... (read more) He leads, stands tied, loads in both ramped and step up trailers and has been my go-to guy for helping other foals load. He has met the inflatable unicorn, went through the scary inflatable arch, and generally performed above average at baby boot camp.
Apache has had a rough start in life. His momma did not produce quality colostrum, so he was whisked off to Ohio State University where he received plasma and antibiotics, and spent the first six days of life there. At seven weeks, his mother slipped in the mud and fractured her pelvis. She had to be euthanized when Apache was less than three months old. During the time his mother was confined to a stall, he developed a small umbilical hernia. We believe she may have almost fallen on him. He was not born with this, and OSU ultrasounded him as a newborn, and said everything was fine there. Our normal procedure for a hernia is to take the mare and foal to OSU for repair, and the foal can convalesce with momma prior to weaning. Fiona was unable to make the trip after her injury, and after her death, we felt Apache had enough to deal with, without adding the trauma of surgery and confinement away from his friends. SO…Apache is being offered for a limited time at a very reduced price. His hernia goes with him. It is roughly one to one and an half inches, and could conceivably heal on its own. I am absolutely making no guarantees on that. After the rest of our foals go to their homes, we will take Apache to OSU and his price will return to our usual foal price of $7000. The surgery at OSU is approximately $900, with a four week recovery/confinement time. Other vets may be cheaper, but OSU is our easiest option.

(read more) We strive to produce calm, quiet and loving foals, that will be a true pleasure to work with. Daily handling and exposure to a variety of items help them get started right. We try to have each baby not only halter broke, standing for farrier, and loading in a trailer, wearing a pad and surcingle, as well as crossing cavelliti, crossing a tarp, and standing on and crossing a pedestal, We try to teach them to think about things and to trust their human partners.
Our stallion, Vorn MFF is a son of Doaitsen 420, the USEF Friesian sire of the year for 2016, 2017, and 2018. Vorn's mother is a crown mare by Beart 411, the two time driving champion of the Netherlands. Vorn rides and drives. Vorn is also hydro and dwarfism free and five panel negative.. His first foals are on the ground and exceeding all expectations. We have sold babies from coast to coast. Vorn’s get are all very people oriented, athletic and very intelligent. They are easy to work with, and for the most part, very quiet natured.
