Meet Breeze your new dream horse deluxe! She’s a 15.1 hand 5 year old Percheron Morgan Cross Mare. She’s steel gray with a flaxen mane and tail!... (read more) She has the looks, brains, skills, and personality. She is the all around perfect horse in my opinion!
She RIDES & DRIVES! She’s comfortable in an arena and is very good on her leg cues that you can ride her without a bridle and just your legs! Knows how to lay down! She is friendly and will catch you out in the pasture! NO bad habits or vices at all! I only have good things to say about this mare she is one of the best horses I have ever owned all the way around and I’ve had some amazing horses so she takes the cake! I’ve had horses that were awesome horses, but maybe they could use a little improvement here or there, but this mare is just awesome with anything she’s had thrown at her.
She’s great out on the trails, awesome in the cart, and she’s down for some arena time too! It’s hard to find one horse that can do it all and enjoy whichever activity you choose to do. I’ve had horses that were “a jack of all trades, but a master of none,” but with this mare she’s a jack of all trades and a master at them all. Because she’s willing to please and has a nice attitude about whatever gets thrown at her and has equal amounts of experience in any of her fields. And not only that you have to remember she’s at a great age that she’s still willing to learn more and go into any other direction you want to point her at. So if you want to try fun shows or a little dressage she’s willing to learn.
And she’s also at that perfect age where she was broke out as a two year old and used consistently for the past 3 1/2 years so she has a lot of experience with a been there done that attitude that’s hard to find in a horse her age.
So enough about her personality let’s go to her experience and we will start with driving. She stands to hitch/unhitch, stop signs/lights, and mount/dismount from the cart. She’s fine with all sorts of traffic she’s been driven through town before and is fine with everything. In the video you will see her standing waiting for a train to go by that was not a planned occurrence. I have rode horses next to the train, but never driven near one because a train is a little more scary they shake the ground under your feet. They also make high pitched squeals and they blare their horn coming up as well. These reasons are why I would never choose to drive next to one and find out how my horse is going to react because in a cart you have a lot less control than under saddle. So that video is the first time she’s seen a train with me and it was under harness I was so impressed how calm she remained waiting patiently that we took a video from her perspective so you could see how well she handled it. And that is the scariest traffic this girl has seen and it didn’t phase her at all. Again this was not a planned occurrence as we were driving up to the crossing I heard a rumbling noise and I thought it was a helicopter above and was looking to the skies for the helicopter than I realized a little too late it was the train coming. I am glad she was the one under harness that day could’ve been a different story with any other horse.
For riding she’s amazing she rides right between your legs. Knows her leg cues so well that you don’t even need a bridle. She stops right off of your seat moves her shoulders and hind quarters well. She takes both leads for a canter has a nice little trot that’s easy to sit to. She can also move out at an extended trot. Great at the neck reining. She’s fine to pony other horses off her back or in the cart!
She crosses any water puddles, creeks, ponds, and rivers. She crosses bridges and logs. She rides well with other horses front, back, or middle. She leaves home alone just fine and will separate out on the trail. Gets along out in the pasture. She has raised foals before and she’s a great mother.
She has what I call a perfect build at least what I love to ride. She’s drafty enough she can pull or carry a bigger load, but she’s not overly drafty where you feel like your legs are too spread out and you can’t get a good grip. She’s a perfect stockiness and she has the bigger feet like a draft. So she’s a nice healthy size. And she can go on longer trips if you like miles she can handle them we’ve taken her on an 18 mile ride before and she did it without any complaints.
Again I have NO bad habits or vices to call on this mare she’s never given me any issues or problems. She is my favorite horse to ride because she’s a real horseman’s horse she rides between your legs and does everything asked of her without offering up any objections. She has that nice friendly personality too where you can ride her long miles and she’ll still come up to you the next day out in the pasture. She’ll come up to date on vaccines, dewormings, vet check, and current Coggins.
Loads right in the trailer backs right out hauls quietly. Stands to be tacked and stands still for mounting. I could go on all day about her if you let me she really is a dream horse at least my idea of a dream horse. And she’s the perfect cross the Morgans are so smart, friendly, and willing to please. Then you have the percheron side which is quiet tempered and nice and stout so I think she’s a perfect cross of both worlds. If you have any questions or want to come see her feel free to call me we can also help arrange shipping if you can’t make it here our phone number
