Cletus is a beautiful, unique blue roan Appaloosa colored gelding. He is 7 years old and stands 16 hands tall.... (read more) He is a thick and stout crossbred that is half Percheron and half Appaloosa. Cletus has a wonderful personality and demeanor. He is super gentle and laid back. Whether you are on the ground or in the saddle, Cletus is safe and respectful. He is friendly and personable as well! Cletus has a list of skills and experience that make him an amazing horse. From doing tricks and trail riding to ranch experience and driving, Cletus can do almost anything!
Cletus is a trick horse! At your command he will lay down and will also sit, either from the ground or while you are mounted. He will side pass to a mounting block (or whatever you choose to mount from) and will stand to be mounted. He will even follow you at the command to come!
Cletus lopes nice, easy circles and takes the correct leads both ways. He has a great stop, one hand neck reins and side passes both ways.
Cletus is also an excellent trail horse. He has extensive trail riding experience and is a trail horse deluxe! He's been trail ridden many miles by our entire family! He will go up and down steep hills with ease, through mud, ditches and deep water, over logs and through brush. Cletus is surefooted on rough rocky terrain and has seen and ridden all of it! He will ride out alone or with a group, in the front or in the back.
Cletus has also been used as a ranch horse. He has been used on our farm to check fences and cattle; to move, sort, work and doctor cattle. He has been pasture roped off of as well. He is very level headed and patient when working around cattle and helps make the job go smoothly. He is no stranger to the farm life and he excels in every area.
Cletus is completely traffic safe and has been ridden and even driven to town. He will drive single or double and does well. He is safe with guns, whips and tarps and pays no mind to any kind of commotion.
Around the barn, Cletus is like a puppy dog. He is clean and quiet in the stall, gets along well with other horses in the pasture and is easy to catch. He will come right to you when you call. He is used to all the dogs, cats and goats that run in around the barn with him and never pays them no mind. He's been exposed to different kinds of livestock and wildlife as well such as deer, turkey and squirrels. Cletus stands patiently in the cross ties and for the farrier, he loads and hauls wonderfully and loves a bath and grooming.
We can confidently say that Cletus is completely safe with even a beginner rider. His laid back attitude is patient and forgiving and his overall gentleness makes him a trusted horse.
