KK Ichikawa is a 7 year old, 16hh OTTB gelding by Twirling Candy. He’s been off the track for over a year. He had a proper let down and has been restarted. K is a kind, sensible guy with plenty of potential for the right partner. He has a solid base on the flat WTC. He has three good gaits and makes a nice shape with a pleasant feel. He’s done plenty of trail riding and is sensible out and about. He’s been very lightly introduced to some jumping and seems to be brave with a good jump.... (read more) K is a good guy. Generally speaking he’s reasonably quiet, accepting of the aids, and willing to learn new things. He does come out some days, particularly when its windy and cold, a bit spooky and animated. He doesn’t have a dirty spook, but will scoot and be overall edgy on his spooky days. For a confident, competent rider this would be a none issue, but it does not make him suitable for someone timid, a beginner, or a kid. He needs someone confident and well balanced who can stay relaxed and keep his mind on the job when he comes out a bit edgy. He’s never offered to bolt, rear, and has bucked only a few times in a playful way, not in a I’m trying to launch you way. In the warmer weather with a consistent program he comes out most days pretty quiet and relaxed. He was often the one put on the back burner when we were busy this summer and you could give him a week off and hop on and go without much change in his temperament.
K is a pleasure to have in the barn. He’s sweet and personable with good ground manners. He stands nicely on the cross ties, bathes, clips, loads like a pro, and is good for the vet and farrier. He’s happy in his stall or living out and we’re yet to find someone he doesn’t get along with in turnout. He’s healthy and sound with no vices. Wears four shoes. UTD on all the things.
He absolutely would be suitable for a capable, confident AA/junior in a good program, but please no beginners, no kids, and no on who has never worked with a TB or young horse. He’s an athletic guy with plenty of potential and would like to see him with someone who can do justice by him!
