We could go on for days about this one, he is special to us! Trashbandit is his registered name, which is funny, I dont care who you are. We call him Rico here. Rico is 14.3 hands and stout. Rico is a stunning sorrel gelding with a long mane, full tail, and a baby doll head. He's by GunnaTrashYa and out of an own daughter of Custom Pistol. He has NRHA earnings just shy of $1K - with limited showing, due to no fault of his own! He’s got a ton of style and is a talented reiner who goes around low headed all the time, he’s soft in the bridle and responsive to his rider.... (read more) He was recently used at the Blackhawk College and was quiet and safe for all types of riders, including novices. Rico has a HUGE stop and spins a hole in the ground with ease. He has smooth gaits and is an absolutely AMAZING Ranch Horse - he extends all of his gaits when asked, and does not lose any of his charisma in doing so! Rico’s trot is so fun and stylish - if we had more time, we would show him every chance we can get because he stands out and is totally consistent at the same time. He will bring you to the winner’s circle and earn hardware whether it’s reining, ranch riding, or anything else.
Aside from all the fancy buttons, he is uncomplicated and content to just mosey around the ranch, go get the mail, or hit the trails. Way more WHOA than go! I’ve trail ridden him alone and with a group, nothing phases him and he doesnt mind leading or following. Rico has crossed water, gone over logs and various terrains, and seems to really enjoy the great outdoors. He’s great around kids, dogs, large construction equipment, all kinds of traffic, etc. He rides under English tack and looks super cute going around, he has a great natural frame and a soft mouth no matter what kind of bridle hes being ridden in. In fact, he rides the same with or without any bridle or saddle - we’ve ridden him bareback all over. He stands for mounting - even when it’s a picnic table or trailer fender instead of a block. Heck, he even lets our dog get on his back and doesnt bat an eyelash. He’s seen cattle and has had a rope thrown off his back, he’s great at dragging logs and barrels - Rico has never said “no” to anything we’ve asked of him. We have TONS more video clips and pictures of him doing all kinds of fun stuff around our farm, he is always up for any kind of shenanigans, there’s no end to his patience!
Rico has outstanding ground manners and is a total gentleman to be around. He stands for bathing, braiding, farrier, vet work, clipping, etc. Rico doesnt take sick days, and he is an easy keeper. He's been turned out in the pasture and also lives inside a stall sometimes, it doesnt matter to him. He is good with other horses as well as by himself.
Rico is a special horse, please contact us for more information on him or to set up a time to come meet him for yourself. We welcome visitors to our farm and provide a thorough PPE prior to the sale date, and any further testing is welcomed at buyers expense. Follow Us on Facebook for more updates and Rico content!
