2021 Grade (Paint/Missouri Fox Trotter) gelding looking for a new home. Never officially measured but estimated at 15.2 HH. Up to date on farrier and vet, current coggins, and healthy. He was started this year and recently had 90 days at HBR horse training in Backus, MN (May-July). Videos of training available on their Facebook page. Contact me for links. He was going out for trail rides and riding out alone at the trainers. He has a good start and will W/T/L both directions, good stop and back.... (read more) Very respectful on the ground, lunges, moves his hind end and frontend. He will lead into a trailer and does ok with trailering. Works off leg and seat, but it does need fine tuning. Stands for grooming and farrier work. He fidgets with saddling, but I think with time and consistency he will stand better for that. He stands still for mounting either from a mounting block or from the ground. He loves to trail ride and will lead or follow. I have only ridden him with another horse, and he does well. He went through water at the trainers but we haven’t encountered water so I can’t speak on that. He still lacks confidence, but again, with time I could see him doing well. He was bridled at the trainers, but he still has caps on his teeth and just recently had his wolf teeth removed (4/2024) so it was decided to just keep him in a hackamore as he was fighting the bit and could be due to the caps. Trainer thinks giving him 4-6 months will help with taking the bridle. He does well with the hackamore. He will sometimes test the rider or have toddler tantrums as he is young and tries to see what he can get away with so I would say an intermediate to experienced rider would be a best fit. These usually consist of him refusing what you are asking, avoiding the task, or pawing. He has never bucked, reared, bite or kick. He is a smart horse that wants to please and loves to be worked with. He greets you at the gate and easy to halter. I’m selling as I just don’t have the time for a young horse. He is still green and needs time/consistency which is something I am struggling to do with two young children and a full-time job. It isn’t fair to him to sit and I think he will go far in the right hands. $4000 OBO.
