Kizzie had 37 starts, winning over $100,000 in her career. She did retire with small bone chips in both front ankles. Kizzie was sent to Mid-Atlantic and had the bone chips removed. Surgeon at Mid-Atlantic removed them successfully, and said she will not have any career limitations. Kizzie arrived to the farm in July to begin rehab. After rehab, we gave Kizzie some extra downtime to just be a horse. I pulled her shoes in August and it did take her some time to transition being barefoot.... (read more) During that time, we began some groundwork exercises, moving her shoulders and hindquarters freely, walking over cavaletti, desensitizing walking over tarps, wooden bridges, ect. She doesn't like when the wind picks the tarps up, haha
11/2/24: Kizzie has been restarted WTC and over poles. She is happy and willing to work, and she does whatever the rider asks of her. Kizzie has been an easy snaffle ride. By her 3rd ride, I was able to drop my reins to the buckle and Kizzie remained at the same pace in both the trot and canter. I am able to sit, say woah and she will drop down into the lower gaits. She always starts out forward, but after a few transitions, she settles into whatever pace you would like to set.
11/10/24: Despite it being cold, and drizzling during our ride, Kizzie was such a good girl. Listening really well to my seat and leg. We began the introduction of cross-rails and flowers near the jump- she popped right over it without hesitation.
Kizzie is currently being treated for ulcers - as she is a bit girthy when being saddled. She is sensitive with certain brushes, and will let you know if she doesn't like a particular brush (tail swishing, ear pinning). Despite her sensitivities, she enjoys head scratches, nose kisses/hugs and tons of treats. Kizzie stands on crossties for bathing and grooming. Kizzie stands great for the vet and farrier. She can be turned out alone or in a group -She is a submissive mare making her the low man on the totem pole. Kizzie ties and loads on/off my trailer easily.
Other than having the bone chips removed, Kizzie has clean, tight legs, no other injuries and no vices. Kizzie is barefoot and sound. Kizzie has no career limitations and can go in any direction, in any ring or discipline! Kizzie is green, but Amateur friendly (Not suitable for beginner's).
