2008 APHA sorrel overo gelding. 15.3 hh. Vet checks welcomed. He is guaranteed sound and ready to haul anywhere and anytime. He has an old scar on his back hock, but I've had it x rayed, and they passed him as sound. It's never given us any issues either, but it's noticeable when you first take a look at him. I can't believe I'm making this post after everything i did to get this horse, but I'm going through a sticky divorce.... (read more)
Zeus or "Lights Southern Blues" is a once in a lifetime horse. The kind you can trust to get anything done on. It baffles me that he was the backup horse with the lady we purchased him from. She raised him and had him his entire life, so I'm his 2nd owner ever. Chuckwagon racing, barrels and poles, roping, he's done it all. This guy gave me back my confidence with riding fast and fearless. Zeus never bucks, and that has been a huge thing for me. When I need to catch a wagon team, he's my go-to. It might take me a second to get on him cause he's a mountain compared to me, but he waits for me in a way, and then soon as we're off, he covers ground like a freight train. His stride is so impressive. This guy's built for long distance and will get the job done. Previous owners daughter was running ABRA with him and placing in the 3D easy. I'd like to find him a home that he will be used in. Zeus enjoys working. He loves having a job. Easy to catch and handle on the ground. Loads and backs out of the trailer, no issues. No ally issues at an arena. Care free around traffic and small animals. Bathes, clips, he's the best horse for the farrier. Easy to worm, no quirks, no surprises. He's honest and so well mannered both on the ground and while racing. Great with other horses. Not going to bully others, nor will he be bullied. I can't think of enough good things to describe him.
I will say he's not for a beginning rider. Zeus handles flawlessly, neck reins, moves off leg pressure, backs, etc... but he knows his job. He's not going to be the laid-back trail horse, and he'll never be the horse that puts his head down and just strolls. He's always ready and willing. If you're not confident on a horse that won't stand still, especially at an event, he's not gonna do you any good. I trail ride on him and race him, but I've been riding since I could crawl, and none of that phases me. Zeus will require a good farrier, and I've kept him on Osteo Max the majority of the time he's been with me, and it's worked wonders. When we purchased him, his feet were not so great and needed a lot of work. I spent about 3k on just that, not including both purchase prices. I'm around 10 grand in this horse, and he's been worth every penny of it.
That being said, i'm only going to ask close to what I have in him. I know someone will see the potential for your youth rider or for yourself as a step-up horse. Unfortunately for me and my situation, I'll be living in the city until my divorce is final and i can save back enough to buy another property, and unfortunately we couldn't find horse property to lease. I'm having to pick and choose what I want to leave sitting at my lease pasture an hour away, and I just can't let this one sit and go to waste. He needs the supplements on the daily, and I busted my tail end to keep this guy in tip-top shape. I have a ton of photos and lots of chuck wagon videos of him. I don't have any barrel videos, but I'd be willing to load him up and let you try him out if you have an arena in mind nearby.
I'm confident you'll love and adore this horse like I do.
As far as his registration goes, i will have to send the papers to you after I get them back from the ex. They are guaranteed. I technically purchased this guy twice! First time when we purchased him together, and then, the second time, I paid all the exes loans for 4 months in exchange for him. Paid him off. But petty ex. Either way, you can't breed him and can't physically ride his paperwork!
He's located in Shreveport LA currently. Give me a shout at 318-780-zero943 text or call. Leave a voice message when you call or text first cause I don't answer strange numbers!! If you have any questions, please ask. No trades since I'm having to let what I keep sit, and I won't be able to ride much.
