Nova is a beautiful 15 year old, 15.2 hh, grade, red dun, ranch branded, quarter horse mare with a beautiful dorsal stripe and leg barring.
Nova is timid and flinchy when you reach out to touch her at first but she will warm up to you in no time. She will stand quietly on cross ties to be groomed, tacked and fly sprayed. She takes a bit like nobody’s business and picks her feet up when asked. She will also jump right on and off a trailer and will follow you right along if you are leading her.... (read more) She has never been pushy or done anything wrong for us and has NEVER tried to bite, kick or strike at anyone.
Nova is a “more whoa than go” girl and you have to kick her when you ask her to go. No matter how hard you try she will only walk and trot under saddle but she does willingly does both of those and will go wherever you ask her … you DON’T have to worry about her running off with anyone. She will stand for you to climb up on and find your seat. This girl plow reins and we’ve tried every bit in our arsenal to get her to quit mouthing with the bit but we don’t have anything so we are currently riding her in an O Ring Snaffle … she listens with it even though she is playing with it with her tongue. Nova has a great whoa but we haven’t been able to get a back up out of her. She will work willingly inside or outside of the riding ring. NO buck, rear, kick, strike or bolt & she doesn’t seem to spook at anything. She has been exposed to bulldozers, tractors, semis, motorcycles, side by sides, ATVs, goats and kids running all thru their pasture and nothing seems to bother her.
In the field, Nova is, by no means, a boss in the field but she does get along with mares, geldings & ponies. She will come to you if you shake a grain bucket but is shy to let you touch her. She doesn’t mind being turned out in the field or will stand quietly in a stall with good stall manners. Again, no bad stall habits; no stall weave, pawing or cribbing!! When I got her she was a little thin and is putting on weight nicely after being dewormed and daily grain and all the hay she can eat. Other than a little weight she does not require any special maintenance at this time.
Nova is UTD on her yearly vaccinations and was just dewormed again on 09/02/24. She is currently barefoot, does fine for the farrier and was last trimmed on 08/29/24.
I would recommend Nova for anyone from a beginner child to an elderly person looking for a nice, quiet trail horse. ?2️⃣5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ OBO. We are not interested in trades, leases or payment plans. Located in Benwood, WV. We do not provide shipping.
