Bay Tatio aka Shifty was purchased in March by myself. She had been nothing more than a pasture pet but was halter broke and gentle. In just a week’s time, I had her going under saddle. She has been trail ridden extensively. She will lead, ride in the middle, or drag. She isn’t bothered by horses leaving her sight. She’ll go through water and over logs. She takes care of me. She is laid back but can pick up the pace when asked. She rides great with gaited horses and can keep up.... (read more) Shifty has a very nice ground covering trot. Shifty has also been ridden bareback and swam
In the lake on a weekly to bi-weekly basis. When not trail riding, I do slow work in getting her more broke in the face and work on basic maneuvers. She was started in a rope halter, then progressed to a loping hackamore and is currently being ridden in a smooth snaffle. Shifty stands at 15.3 hands tall and is ready for a job. She’s got that solid foundation and would excel as a barrel horse or make a nice English Horse. She will be started on the pattern soon. She’s currently being shown at the local saddle club in Open Halter. Shifty is easy to catch, hauls easily, stands tied, stands for farrier, loves a bath and to be brushed. Hobble broke too. She has shoes currently but does not need them. I just ride on a lot of rocks when trail riding. She’s up to date on everything.
She will walk, trot, lope, sidepass, open/close gates from her back. We haven’t loped circles much yet, just ridden out on the trail. I have trotted circles and figure 8’s. She backs with her head tucked and is starting to spin/do rollbacks to the right and left pretty decent.
